Global Trade

About Us

Independent coverage of the people, ports and policies that move global trade.

Our mission

We exist to make global trade legible. Every day, millions of containers, pallets and parcels cross borders, and behind each movement sits a chain of carriers, terminals, customs officials, financiers and workers. Our job is to follow that chain, explain what changed, and show why it matters to the businesses and communities who depend on it.

We believe good trade journalism is neither cheerleading nor doom-mongering. It is careful, sourced and useful — a steady read on what is actually moving, what is actually costing, and what is actually next.

What we cover

  • Shipping markets and freight rates across container, bulk, air, road and rail.
  • Trade policy, tariffs, sanctions and the agreements reshaping market access.
  • Ports, terminals and the infrastructure behind throughput and congestion.
  • Supply chains, warehousing, inventory and last-mile logistics.
  • Commodities, manufacturing and the industries that trade them.
  • Cross-border finance, insurance, payments and digital trade.

How we report

Our correspondents work from ports, freight corridors and trade ministries in more than 68 countries. We cross-check carrier schedules, port-authority statistics, customs records and on-the-ground accounts. Where figures conflict, we say so. Where a story is still developing, we label it.

We are editorially independent. Advertising and partnerships never determine what we cover or how we cover it, and sponsored material is clearly marked.

Our standards

Accuracy comes first. When we get something wrong, we correct it openly and promptly. We do not publish unverified rumours as fact, and we separate reporting from comment. Analysis is clearly attributed to the desk or to the named author.

Who we are for

Importers and exporters, freight forwarders, carriers, port operators, manufacturers, financiers and policymakers — anyone who needs a clear, calm read on a fast-moving system. Whether you move one pallet a month or a thousand containers a year, the same questions apply: where is it, what does it cost, and what happens next?

This page is general information about our publication and coverage. It is not legal, financial or shipping advice.
